  Grammar: Imperative sentences

  Phrases: (be) on time, be late for, wear the school uniform, listen to, go out, on school nights/days, before dinner, do the dishes, make (one’s) bed, be strict (with sb), follow the rules.
  *Writing: learn how to write about rules in daily life.
  *Sentences for writing:
  ①There are too many rules.
  ②At school, I have to wear a school uniform, and I must keep my hair short.
  ③After school, I can’t play with my friends or watch TV because I have to do my homework.
  ④I can’t relax on weekends either because I have to learn to play the piano.
  ⑤My father is strict with me, but I think it’s best to follow the rules.
  Use the following words to write a paragraph (at least 80 words):

  2. P19 1a Have Ss cover the school rules in the picture and the list of school rules. Elicit Ss the answers to the following questions: Are any school rules being broken in the picture?
  Language points:
  1) Be late for/be on time
  2) Listen to music
  3) outside. adv.: eat outside
  3. P19 1b Listen and match the rules students breaking with the names.
  4. Pair work: Look at the pictures on P19, ask and answer about class rules. 操练can的陈述句
  e.g. A: What are the rules?
  B: Well, we can’t arrive late for class. We must be on time.     
  5. Culture Note: In the US, school rules are often written in a “code of conduct” document. Parents and Ss may be required to sign this to acknowledge that they have read, understood and agreed to follow the school rules. 
  For students, you have class rules, and there are also school rules for you to follow. Let’s see what they are.
