Will Smith is a superstar who was first seen as a rapper and then as one of Hollywood’s hottest guys on the block. He was born on September 25, 1968 in West Philadelphia, and was brought up in Germantown in northwest Philadelphia. His father always looked forward to developing discipline and good habits in his children. Occasionally, as a means of punishment, he also hit his children for misbehaving. Although Will found his father a bit too strict, he always owes his success to his father. He believes that his father’s disciplinary attitude helped him stay focused and enabled him to stay away from distractions.
In Will’s family, almost everyone sang and played an instrument. Will learned to play the piano from his mother and learned drumming all by himself. Will received his first stereo system as a gift from his parents when he was ten. In his spare time, he listened to different types of music; this hobby of his was responsible for introducing him to one of the most popular rap numbers, “Rapper’s Delight” which further lead to Will’s love and interest in rapping.
Will loved music, especially writing poetry. He used to visit the inner-city street corners to chect original rap artists. Although these places were perfect for developing his love for rap, they were dangerous and filled with drugs and violence. However, Will never involved himself in anything apart from rapping. His success in rapping became evident when his partner Jeff Townes received the first Grammy Award in the Rap category, in 1988.
Like Will Smith, every successful man is shaped right from his childhood. To chase dreams, one should be disciplined, focused, and never say no to opportunities.

The analysis in a famous medical magazine The Lancet looks at obesity (肥胖) trends in over 200 countries. In the UK, one in every 10 young people aged 5 to 19, is fat. Obese children are likely to become obese adults, putting them at risk of serious health problems, say experts. Researchers believe the fact that the cheap, fattening food is available is one of the main drivers.
Although child obesity rates appear to be stable in many rich European countries, including the UK, France and German, they are accelerating at an alarming speed in many other parts of the world. The largest increase in the number of obese children has been in East Asia. China and India have seen very fast rates in recent years.
The researchers say that if current world trends continue, “obese” will soon be more common than “underweight”. “We have not become lazy. The reality is that the world around us is changing.”
Dr. Fiona Bull from the World Health Organization suggested strict measures be taken to prevent “calorie-rich, nutrient-poor food” and encourage more physical activity. “But so far, only 20 countries around the world have introduced a tax on sugary drinks,” she said.
Dr. Alison Tedstone, chief nutritionist at Public Health England, said, “Our sugar reduction program and the government’s sugar tax are world-leading, but this is just the beginning of a long trip to meet the challenge of a generation. The evidence is clear that just telling people what to do won’t work. While education and information are important, deeper actions are needed to help us lower calorie
