  教材分析:
  在本课时,教学重点应放在培养学生的阅读能力方面。在处理第六页的阅读短文《为何不继续她的事业》时,教师先引导学生扫除词汇障碍,然后让学生找课文大意培养他们的快速阅读能力。之后给出六个问题来训练学生的寻读能力,接着在通过细读找出作者是通过什么方式来了解林巧志及林巧志令我们感动的事迹。最后与学生一起感悟人生的价值,使文章主题得到升华。
  In this period ,the teaching emphasis will be put on developing students’reading ability  by reading extensively . We’ll deal with the passage : Why not carry on her good worsing language on Page 6 . While reading , let students learn to use some reading strategies such as skimming and scanning .  Teachers can solve the word problem , then talk something about the famous Chinese great women to lead in the topic . After that asdents to read the passage and do some comprehending exercises . While checking their answers with the whole class , deal with language problems . This is an extensive lesson , so the teaching steps should be simple .

  1. Develop students’reading skills by extensive reading .
  2. Let students read and understand the passage .
  教学难点:
  Enable students to learn to use reading strategies such as skimming , scanning .

  1. Get students to learn some useful new words and expressions in this part : rate, sickness, intend, emergency, generation, kindness, consideration, deliver, by chance, come across, carry on .
  2. Get the students to read the passage .
  3. Let students know more about Lin Qiaozhi and her achievements .

  Step 1 Greeting and revision (5m)
  1. Greet students and keep them relaxed .
  Good afternoon , my dear friends . How are you today ? Do you feel nervous to have a public class here ? Don’t be nervous . Let’s sing an English song the big big world .
  2. Revise the great women students have learnt.
  What a beautiful song ! Now please tell me three women of achievement including their information such as names , nationality and occupation as well as their achievements .

  Show one picture of Lin Qiaozhi to students and let them talt her .( Show the following on the screen .)
  Step 3 Words learning (6m)
  1. Learn new words .
  Three minutes for students to read the new words by themselves .
  New words: deliver, consideration,    generation, intend, emergency, rate , carry on , come cross , career .
  2. Match the new words and phrases with their definitions.
