Introduction & Reading and Vocabulary (1)
Teaching aims:
Learn some new scientific terms.
1. Get to know some famous scientists worldwide and nationwide.
2. Learn something about Yuan Longping.
3. Write a short passage.
Step1: Lead-in
1. introduce the topic by presenting some pictures showing the disease SARS - a terrible disease in 2003 and the great scientists - CHINESE ACADEMY OF SCIENCES CAS
Step2: Introduction Activity 1
1. Discussion: show the pictures of Newton, Marie Curie, Archimedes and
Albert Einstein. Then discuss the questions about them:
1) Who are they?
2) What did they invent or discover?
2. guess and appreciate some encouraging remarks
1) Ancient Greek Physicist, mathematician

support作动词时，意思为“支持，支援，资助”，如：

She supports her husband on the money she earns from teaching. 她用教书挣的钱资助丈夫。
【拓展】 1. support用作动词，还有下面的意义和用法：
① “支撑；支持；扶持”，如：
The old man entered the room supported by his grandson. 老人由孙子扶着进了房间。
② “抚养；赡养”，如：
He needs a high income to support such a large family. 他需要一份高收入来供养这样一个大家庭。
③ “为……提供证据；证实”，如：
Can you give some examples to support your argument? 你能举几个例子来证实你的论点吗?
2. support还可以用作名词，有下面的意义和用法：
