The General Idea of This Period
In this period the students are to do some listening and speaking work: Listening is a material about the particular
problems women have when they want a career of their own; The speaking part is to encourage the students to
think of a woman that they admire or like and make a description of her.
Teaching aims:
1、Enable the students to grasp the gist(要点) by catching the topic sentences and some key words and at the same time make some notes when necessary.
2、Enable the students to use some adjectives / sentences to describe a woman that they admire or like and make a dialogue.
Teaching important and difficult points
1、Understand the listening materials and catch the topic sentences.
2、To talt a woman and describe the woman that they admire or like.
Teaching methods 1、Listening-and-answering.2、Cooperative learning.3、Discussion in pairs and in groups.
Teaching aids A projector , a multimedia computer
Three Dimensional Teaching Aims
Knowledge and skills
1、Enable the students to get the gist of the listening materials by catching some topic sentences and learn something about some great women..
2、Get the students to talt the woman that they admire or like.
Process and strategies
1、Train the students’ listening and speaking skills through listening and speaking.
2、Group work or individual work to involve the students in a heated discussion.
Feelings and value
1、Through the listening material the students will have a better understanding of the roles women play in society.
2、By discussing the students may have a better understanding of the position that women are in thus causing the students to think more about sexism.
Teaching Procedures
Step 1 Warming up and lead in (whole class work)
1) A photo of a lady in China.
2) Enjoy a short video and thint some problems women are facing in their careers.
Step 2 Before listening (whole class work)
Task 1 Answer two questions after watching the video.
1)Do you think women are treated equally in their careers?
2)Do you think women can get the same salary(薪水) as men in the same job ?
1、彭丽媛:成功女性的代表,嵌入本单元话题,同时引出女性在职业中的问题。
2、由视频引出问题, 进而引出相关听力材料。
Step 3 While listening (individual work)
Task 1 Listening for the first time: listen to grasp the gist(要点) by catching the topic sentences and some key words and make some notes when necessary.
Task 2 Listening for the second time: listen to find out the main idea--fill in the blanks with correct word forms.
