  What do you know about killer whales?
  Killer whales (虎鲸) belong to toothed whales, which  are the largest of the dolphins and the biggest carnivore(食肉动物) of the sea, killing all kinds of animals in the sea, such as fish, squid(鱿鱼), seals (海豹), sea lions(海狮), penguins(企鹅), sharks, even other whales, including the huge blue whale, like tigers on land, working in a team. Thus, they are called “Killer Whales”. However, Killer whales never ate and even attack people.

  (1) As we drew closer, I could see a whale being attacked by a pack of about six other killers. 靠近一看,原来是一头大鲸受到大约六条虎鲸的攻击。
  being attacked by a pack of about six other killers 在句中做宾语补足语,与宾语a whale 之间构成逻辑上的动宾关系。

  (2) This was the call that announced there was about to be a whale hunt. 这是宣告捕鲸行动马上就要开始的呼声。
  be about to do不与具体的时间状语连用,但可以与when 引导的时间状语从句连用,构成:be about to do…when… 正要做……,这时……
