　　Karaoke is from Japan. The “kara” of karaoke means empty, while the “oke” is a Japanese abbreviation (缩略词) of the English word “orchestra”. These two words coming together mean an orchestra without a singer. I know “karaoke bars” are well known by Americans, but actually we have few karaoke bars in Japan. What we call “karaoke box” is more popular in Japan.
　　Shinjuku may be a place you want to go. There are huge shopping malls, video centers, movie theaters and many kinds of amusement.
