　　一、只用whether的情形：
　　1、引导位于句首的主语从句时：
　　Whether she will pass the exam or not is still a question. 她能否通过这场考试依然是个问题。
　　Whether she likes the present is not clear to me. 她是否喜欢那礼物，我不清楚。
　　This is certainly the case but whether it is a defect or not I don’t quite know. 事情就是这样，但是不是个缺点我还不大清楚。
　　Whether it will do us harm or good remains to be seen. 这对我们有利还是有弊将试目以待。
　　2、引导discuss之后的宾语从句时：
　　They discussed whether they could settle the problem without others’ help. 他们讨论，如果不要别人帮助能否自己解决这个问题。
　　The leaders discussed whether they should close the shop during the Spring Festival. 领导们讨论了春节期间商店是否停业的问题。
　　3、引导表语从句时：
　　The question is whether it is worth doing. 问题是这事是否值得做。
　　His first question was whether Holmes had arrived yet. 他的第一个问题是福尔摩斯是否已经到达。
　　The question is whether we dare to speak English or not. 问题是我们敢不敢讲英语。
　　My problem right now is whether I should ask for another loan. 现在的问题是，我是否应当申请另一笔贷款。
　　What we want to know is whether the goods come up to the mark. 我们想知道的是，这些商品是否符合标准。
