Teaching Aims:

2. Grasp the main idea of Reading and use the information to describe a certain person’s characteristics.
3. Enable the Ss to use the new words and sentence structures in the real situation.

1. To Grasp the main idea of Reading and use the information to describe a certain person’s characteristics.
2. To enable the Ss to use the new words and sentence structures in the real situation.
Teaching Aids:
Real objects, tape recorder, multi-media computer system
Teaching Approaches:
I think the main instructional of learning English is to cultivate pupil’s basic abilities of listening and speaking and their good sense of the English language. So in this lesson, I’ll mainly use “ Task- based ” teaching method. That is to say I’ll let the Ss learn in real situations, finish a task by making a survey to help the Ss to get a better understanding of the cture of Reading.
Teaching procedures:(45分钟)
Step 1:Revise star signs and lead-in (10分钟)
Q: When were you born?
What characteristics do you thinrselves have? ( hard-working, polite, generous, warm-hearted, helpful…)
(幻灯片2) --- A year is divided into 12 star signs and people born under the same star sign share the similar characteristics .Look at Picture 2 and say something about it.
(幻灯片3) --- Do you know more words to describe people? Revise the pronunciation of the 12 star signs. Match the first parts of the sentences on the left with the second parts on the right.
Step 2:Part A and part B (15分钟)
1. Brainstorm the vocabulary that is used to describe people’s characteristics. Encourage students to explain each word to their classmates.
2. Read the passage aloud to students. Then listen to the tape. Ask them to listen carefully and follow the text on page 4 and 5.
3. Ask one student at a time to read a paragraph. After each paragraph, asdents to say which parts of the text they do not understand. Less able students may find some of the names of the star signs difficult. If so, do not force them to learn them by heart because they are only used here to arouse students’ interest. It is more
