Nobody has been able to do better than Charlie Chaplin in making people laugh. He made people laugh when they felt depressed, so they could feel more         with their lives. He was born in a poor family and his father died, leaving the family even                . He had to look after his sick mother and brother and became one of the most popular child         in England.
As time went by, he began making films and his        character, the little tramp, became known            the world. The tramp was a poor and         man with a moustache, who wore large trousers,         shoes and a small round black hat. He was so funny in all of his films throughout his life. Chaplin wrote,        , and produced the films he starred in. As a result, he received many awards for his        work in films.
4 In pairs discuss these questions about Charlie Chaplin.
1.Do you think his poor childhood helped him in his work? Why?
