Step 2 Pre-reading
To review types of humour and know more about Charlie Chaplin.

Task2 To skim the passage to complete the notes about Charlie Chaplin(from textbook: page 19, exercise 1);

Nobody has been able to do better than Charlie Chaplin in making people laugh. He made people laugh when they felt depressed, so they could feel more with their lives. He was born in a poor family and his father died, leaving the family even . He had to look after his sick mother and brother and became one of the most popular child in England.
As time went by, he began making films and his character, the little tramp, became known the world. The tramp was a poor and man with a moustache, who wore large trousers, shoes and a small round black hat. He was so funny in all of his films throughout his life. Chaplin wrote, , and produced the films he starred in. As a result, he received many awards for his work in films.
