  阅读理解。阅读下列短文, 从给的四个选项 (A、B、C和D) 中, 选出最佳选项。
We don’t know how different our future will be in the year 2050. We can only try to imagine it.
At first we thint human relat ionship. In the year 2050, we will use computers almost every day. We will be making new friends through the Internet—even our husbands or wives will be met in this way. It will be much faster and easier for us. On the other hand, our relationships with people won’t be as important as they are today—we will feel a little lonely.
Computers will also help us in many other activities in 2050. For example, they will be used by the children at school to make their learning easier. In addition, there will be much more other machines which will play a similar role as computers, like robots which will do the housewors.
Spending holiday w ill also be completely different. Travelling to other planets or to the moon will be available for everyone. Means of transport will, of course, change, too. We will be using solar-powered cars, which will be much more environmentally friendly.
We could expect that the faster technological progress would lead to a more polluted environment. But it isn’t true. We will pay more attention to protecting the environment. And, scientists will probably find cures for many dangerous diseases, like cancer or AIDS. Therefore, our surroundings as well as health will be in better condition.
Although we can’t predict the exact changes which will be made in the world, we often thint them. We worry about our and our children’s future; we have expectations, hopes as well as fears. But I think we should be rather sanguine about our future. We should be happy and believe good things will happen.

(原创)People in Hong Kong speak a rich mixture of languages. Hong Kong was a British colony for more than 1 56 years before it was returned to Chinese control in 1997. English was the only official language until 1994.
Most pe ople in Hong Kong today speak Cantonese, but Mandarin and other diale  cts also are heard, and English as  the British used is still widely spoken and taught here. Now however, many people are choosing to learn English as it is spoken in the United States.
Victor Chan, for example, has children who attend school called Nature EQ on Saturday and Sunday, and they are learning to say words the American way. Mr Chan says he wants his sons to learn American English, because he plans to send them to the United States for further study.
Nature EQ is one of a growing number of schools in Hong Kong that offer American English classes. Frankie Ng opened the school 17 years ago, at that time, he had only 40 students. Today, the school has 350 students, and it does not have space for any more.
Mr Ng says American English is clear and defined. He says it is easy to teach and easily understood. That, however, is not the main concern of the children.
Public schools in the former British colony still teach mostly British English. But the number of private language schools teaching American English is growing.
In Hong Kong’s Tseung Kwan O district, for example, the American English Workshop school had 20 students a week when it opened one year ago. Today, ithas more than 180 each week.
Some observers say American English is becoming the language of international business. Increased contact with American culture, like movies, television programs, computer games and the Internet is spreading American expressions and accents in areas other than business.
But for now, people hearing Englis h in the streets of Hong Kong are mainly hearing traditional British English.
“We can understand both, but for what we speak, we speak with the British accent, ”said one local woman.
“The British is better I think, ”commented a local man.

It takes more than just practice to become an Olympian. Gold medal performances require some serious nutrition. Have you ever wondered what these successful athletes eat to stay in peak shape?
Keri Glassman, a registered dietitian and founder of Nutritious Life Meals, appeared on“Good Morning America”today to give you a glimpse into the diets ofsome top athletes. Some of their meals could surprise you.
  Crazy Calorie Count
Glassman said Olympians eat a lot of food—quantities that for ordinary people would constitute pigging out. One secret of swimmer Michael Phelps’ astonishing performance in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing was consuming as many as 12, 000 calories in one day.
Athletes can eat like this and not gain any weight because their workouts are intense. According to Glassman, Phelps’ workouts can burn 4, 000 to 6, 000 calories in a day, and those calories must be added in order to train the following day.
  Snacking Secrets
Some athletes eat strange foods that improve their performance. Yohan Blake, the Jamaica sprinter and 100-meter world champion, has stolen champion sprinter Usain Bolt’s thunder on the tracring the Olympic trials. Ast how he gets his energy, Blake answered that he eats 16 bananas per day, Glassman said.
Jonathan Horton, the lead gymnast on the US team, has a blood sugar problem. His solution is honey. When he starts to feel shaky at the gym, he takes honey to boost his energy, Glassman said.
  Foods for Recovery
What are the best foods to help the body recover after harsh competition?
For Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte, the recovery meal is grilled chicken breasts with Alfredo sauce, whole-g rain spaghetti and a salad with lemon juice and olive oil. Lochte, who recently cut out junk food, candy and soda, has undertaken a strength-training regimen(养生法)that involves flipping tractor tires and tossing beer kegs, Glassman said.
