UNIT 6: 《Accidents!》教案
GENERAL OBJECTIVES
This is the third unit in this level that extends students' fluency in health-related concepts and vocabulary. This unit presents information and stories about common accidents, as well as a real account of an unusual accident with a pencil ! The unit reviews health-related vocabulary the students learned in earlier levels, and teaches new vocabulary,particularly for giving warnings and describing injuries. The students use this language to create a play about an accident. This unit also includes a lesson about Christmas, since the unit falls around December 25. Christmas is one of the most important festivals in Western culture. In this unit, the students learn some interesting facts about the origin of a Christmas icon: Santa.

Lesson 41: After an Accident
LESSON STRUCTURE
CLASS OPENING

KEY STEPS
Step 1: Come to "Thint It."
Step 2: Check to see if the students have previewed the reading as required. Ask if they have any questions concerning the text. Encourage other students to try to answer the questions. Select one or two words from the vocabulary list and ask if anyone has figured out the meaning. If a student replies correctly, ask him or her to share the strategies used to puzzle out the meanings. Remember to give lots of praise for a good try, even if it's wrong.
Step 3: Play the audiotape. Have the class follow the audiotape while looking at the text.
Step 4:Divide the class into groups of three. Ask each group member to take one of the three roles (Jenny, Danny or Brian) and act out the dialogue.
Step 5: Come to "Project 1."
