  1.familiar with the names of those famous rivers in the world such as “the Nile, the Amazon” and the countries that the Mekong river flows through such as “Laos, Vietnam”.
  2.master the useful words which describe the advantages and disadvantages of different kinds of transport such as “uncomfortable,  safe , unsafe ”.
  3.express their ideas and also give reasons about their choices of different transports during traveling.
  4.summarize the factors that influence people’s choice of different transport according to the given adjectives.
  5.asestions based on the title and scan for the specific information to find the answers.
  Process and method:
  6.learn autonomously and cooperatively through all kinds of activities.
  7.Wort the factors by changing the adjectives to nouns.
  Attitude , emotions and values:
  8.experience the happiness of successful learning and cooperation with classmates.
  9.realize the importance of environmental protection.
  10.perceive the power of the Mekong river and the brave travel.

  Teaching Procedures :
  Step 1: Warming –up (20 mins)
  Activity 1 Story Time (6 mins)
  T shares with Ss a story. The story is about an alien running to the Great Wall, because his spaceship didn’t work and he didn’t know anything about the transport in the Earth.
  [Justifications]: This activity is designed to draw Ss’ attentions and make them interested in the class because they like to listen to stories. Besides, this story is to lead in the “transport”.
  Activity 2: Free Talk ( 6 mins)
  T invites Ss to help the alien learn the transport in our planet; Ss name some kinds of transport and enjoy some pictures of transport. Then thint the question: “what kind of transport would you prefer to use? And thint its advantages and disadvantages. ”
  [Justifications]: This activity is going to provide a chance for students to use English to share their own ideas. This activity plays an important role in the following activity, which can reduce the difficulty of the following activity.
  Activity 3 Discussion (Group Work) ( 8 mins)
  T asdents to work in groups of 4 or 3 to discuss about the factors that people usually consider when they decide which kind of transport to use in a trip.
  [Justifications]: This activity is used to train Ss’ learning ability: summarizing the factors from the disadvantages and advantages. Besides, Ss can train their interpersonal abilitiy by communicating with others.
  Step 2 Pre-reading (15 mins)
  Activity 1 Competition (5 mins)
  T divides the students into two groups and two group compete to match the famous rivers with their location.
  [Justifications]: This activity is to change the topic “transport” to the topic “river”. And the competition can activate Ss to take part in the competition, which can lead to the Mekong river fluently.
  Activity 2 The Mekong River (5 mins)
  T leads Ss to look at the picture in the reading passage, and Ss have to find out the countries the Mekong river flows through.
  [Justifications]: This activity is designed to draw Ss’ attention to the reading passage, especially the picture in the reading passage which can make Ss realize how powerful the Mekong river is .
  Activity3 The Title (5 mins)
  T leads Ss to analyze the title” Journey down the Mekong” : what can we know from the title and what else do you want to know ?
  [Justifications]: This activity is designed to train Ss’ reading skills: figure out the relevant information based on the title and asestions based on the title.
  Step 3 Homework (3 mins)
  1. 背诵3 个句子
  2. 熟读 课文 Journey down the Mekong
