　　教学设计说明
　　话题介绍 本模块主题是“The Violence of Nature”，译作“自然的暴力”。自然对我们更多的是宽恕，但她也严格地惩罚过我们。1998年的洪灾、威胁北京的沙尘暴、2003年的“非典”等，恐怕是她给我们的警钟。大自然是无私的，她的怒火是责怪人类的不孝，因为她明白，人类不能没有她，人类也必须懂得孝敬她，与她谐和相处。
　　人类应该视自然为母亲，也应该视她为儿女。将有限的资源力量化为无限的资源力量是人类谋求自我生存发展的最佳出路，而这一出路的给予者就是大自然，爱护大自然实质就是人类爱护自己的一种方式。

　　”前两篇属说明文体，介绍了自然界的两种暴力形式：龙卷风和飓风。第三篇是记叙文，讲述Charles Coghlan死后的奇异经历。

　　Throughout history there have been sudden, terrible events that have shaken the world. Sometimes they are man-made, ranging from the infamous sinking of the Titanic to the deadly Chernobyl meltdown of 1986, while others are natural disasters, such as the catastrophic eruption of the island of or the devastating Tokyo earthquake of 1923.
