Teaching goals

(b) important sentence structure
1. To help you to remember words which are related---
为了帮你记住有关单词。
“be related to” means “be connected with”
2. Collect all the words you find out that refer to the same thing.
find out指通过观察、调查了解弄清事实的真相
3. The most violent have winds of more than 400 km per hour.
最强的龙卷风风速超过每小时400公里。
“the+adj.” 用于表示一类人或物。做主语时常用复数。
4. Tornadoes can pick up cars, trains and even horses.

“体验”experience
experience v. 经历 n. 经验
【讲解】 experience用作及物动词时，意思是“体验，经历”，后面接名词或代词作宾语。如：
My hometown has experienced great changes in the past twenty years. 在过去的二十年里，我的家乡经历了巨大的变化。
【拓展】 （1） experience也可以用作可数名词，意思为“经历，经历的事”。如：
Please tell us your experiences in the USA. 请告诉我们你在美国的经历。
（2） experience还可以用作不可数名词，意思为“经验，体验”。如：
Experience teaches; experience does it. 经验给人以教训；经验给人以智慧。
（3） experience的形容词形式为experienced，意思为“有经验的，熟练的”，常与介词in连用。如：
He is experienced in hunting. 他打猎很有经验。
“发生”occur
occur为不及物动词，意思是“发生”。如：
Earthquar frequently in this area. 这一地区经常发生地震。
【拓展】 （1） occur还可以表示“（想法、念头等）想起，浮现”。如：
It occurred to me that I would meet my friend at the airport. 我突然想起我要去机场接朋友。
（2） 在英语中还有很多表示“发生”的单词或短语：take place， happen, come about， bre
