Train the students’ ability to summarize the main plot of the story and know about causes of the conflict.

Lead Ss to think of solutions to conflict.
设计思路
首先让学生读第一篇文章,概括故事情节,了解邻居间冲突的根源,并总结出解决冲突的正确态度与步骤。然后读第二篇文章,了解故事情节与双方立场,应用第一个故事中总结出的方法改编第二个故事的结局,学会解决邻居间的矛盾冲突。

Lead in
(5min) T shows Ss some pictures of different communities and asks Ss about different kinds of relationships between neighbors.
T plays a video clip about neighbors who have conflict with each other.
Ss look at the pictures, watch the video clip and answer teacher’s questions.
To arouse students’ interest and lead in the topic of conflict.
Read the first text about the drummer
Pre-reading:
T asks Ss to guess the meaning of the title “hit the road”.
T asks Ss to read the first paragraph and checessing.
While-reading:
T asks Ss to read the whole story and summarize the causes of the conflict by filling in the gaps.
(Yang Ming’s version;
His neighbor’s version)
T asks Ss to answer questions about solutions and evaluate different parties’ behavior.
1. How did the neighbors solve the conflict? Do u agree with them?
2. What do you think of Yang Ming’s attitude?
Post-reading
T asks Ss to summarize the right attitude towards conflict and appropriate steps to solve the conflict.
