(Enjoy beautiful sceneries/ relax ourselves/get close to nature/ learn different cultures…)
T: Since we can benefit a lot from traveling, Why not marney this summer vacation. But before going on a journey traveling, what should we do? (Make a travel plan)
Step2. Make a travel plan
1. Brainstorm the items in a travel plan
T: What should we consider when making a travel plan?
(Ss:…) (When the Ss are brainstorming, T concludes the points on a travel plan)
• Where are you going?
• How are you going there?
• What are you taking with you?
• How much are you spending on it?
• When are you leaving?
• When are you coming back?
• How long are you staying there?
• …
(After showing all the answers, T adds some points to the Bb and makes it a plan.)
T: Look at these sentences, what tense do we use? (Present continuous tense) the structure is … (be doing) What do we mean? Does it mean the things we are doing now? (We use it to show the things we are going to do)
T: Today let’s mar own Travel Plan for the summer vacation.
2. Choose the destination: show the preference when choosing a destination by using the word “prefer”. And ask partners about their destination by using “be doing”.
T: Two destinations are recommended here, they are Tibet, and Hainan. Which do you prefer to visit?
Prefer: prefer to do/doing sth.
Prefer A to B eg. I like both Tibet and Hainan, but I prefer Tibet to Hainan.
Prefer doing to doing eg. I prefer visiting Tibet to staying at home.
Prefer to do rather than do eg. I prefer to visit Tibet rather than stay at home.
T: I prefer to visit Tibet, so I’m going to Tibet. How about you? Where are you going? (Ask two students) Asr partners where they are going.
3. Decide the transport: Decide the transport after comparing the advantages and disadvantages of four transports.
T: Once you have decided where to go and now you should consider how you are getting there. That is –transport.
Which is the best? (Ss: airplane) But can everybody afford it? (No) Maybe that’s the disadvantage of airplane. So each transport has its advantage and disadvantage. So before making a decision, we should compare them. But how do you compare? (Speed, time, safety, comfort, fare)Group 1 talt the advantages and disadvantages of bus, group 2 discuss those of train, group 3—ship and group 4—airplane.
T: (after discussion) Time to share your opinions. Group1, what’s the...?
T: After comparing them, I think I’d better choose train because the fare is cheaper. How about you? How are you getting to the destination?
4. Make the schedule: ask the T about her schedule and then make their schedules.
T: Now, It’s time to make the schedule. Actually, I have made it. Do you want to know my schedule? Ask me? How will you ask me?
