  Unit 15 Lesson 1 Life-long Learning
  Teaching Objectives:
  By the end of this period, the students will be able to:
  1. retell the learning experiences of the three life-long learners, using the information and vocabulary acquired from the texts.
  2. learn the importance of life-long learning and make their own plans for continuous study.
  3. develop and practice the strategies for prediction, wort meanings and making inference.
  Ability Objectives:
  1. By finishing different reading tasdents can understand the main idea of the reading texts and more detailed information as well.
  2. By listening to the texts to improve students’ listening ability and correct their pronunciation.
  Teaching Important Points:
  1. To get familiar with some words and phrases related to the life-long learning.
  2. To improve students’ reading strategies.
  Teaching Difficulties:
  1. How to help students achieve a better understanding of the importance of life-long learning and encourage them to make their own plans for continuous study.
  2. Guide the students to use the information and vocabulary acquired from the texts.
  Teaching Methods:
  1. Task-based learning method
  2. Discovering learning method
  3. Student-centered method (individual work; pair work and group work)
  4. Discussion
  Teaching Aids:
  computer; blackboard
  Teaching Procedures:
  Step1. Revision and Lead-in
  T: Review the new words of this lesson and show two groups of pictures representing the people of different ages and bacnds to lead in the topic.
  StepⅡ. Skimming and Scanning
  1. Skim the text:  have Ss read the title, the paragraph in italic as well as the subtitles quickly to make clear of the main idea and the writer’ s purpose of writing.
  2. Scan the text: make Ss read the texts quickly and find out the basic information of the three learners (names and ages ).
  StepⅢ. Careful Reading 
  Task 1 Read for the detailed information.
  1. Ss read the texts once more and fill in the table with the correct information.
