  Many of you may want to study abroad after graduating from high school because we tend
  to think overseas universities are better than domestic (国内的) ones. But at the same time,
  more and more international students are coming to study in China. A record-breaking 397,635
  international students came to China in 2017, and China is now the third most popular
  destination for overseas students behind the US and the UK, according to a report released by
  the Student.com website on Feb 12. With an average of 10 percent year-on-year growth, the
  number of international students in China has doubled since 2005. If present growth rates
  continue, China will indeed challenge the UK for the second place by 2020.
  The trend is thought to be mainly due to a growing academic reputation and large
  government support.
  More and more international students are coming to China to get master ’s and doctorate
  degrees. According to the report, of the international students seeking a degree in China, 71
  percent are undergraduates. However, the strongest growth in the number of students can be
  seen in master’s and doctorate degrees.
  In addition, the international standing of Chinese universities has improved a lot. For
  example, the Chinese mainland has 24 universities in the global top 500, according to this year ’s
  edition of the QS World University Rankings, one of the most famous university rankings.
  The Chinese government has also given a large amount of support to encourage
  international students to come to China. According to the report, the Chinese government
  granted 40,600 scholarships to international students in 2017, meaning that
