ghost performances and other distinctive characters。

Carnival
What:Thousands of people crowd the streets wearing masks from early dawn and dance their way through the city till
late evenings. Ordinary people could pretend to be wealthy , while famous people could have romantic adventures in secret。It is today celebrated for five days in February。
When: 46 days before the Easter festival 。
Where: Most famous in Venice。
Why:Coming from the Latin words standing for “no more meat”,Carnival is believed
to have originated during the European controlled era。Meat was banned for forty
days on end。It marks the last opportunity to have fun at the end of the winter。
Thanksgiving
What: A grateful day to celebrate the harvest。 A traditional dinner consists of: turkey, sweet potatoes
,corn,and pumpkin pie。This is a time for family to spend together and enjoy yummy meals。 Meanwhile, many companions watch football or play it in their backyards。
When:the fourth Thursday of November;it is a day off of work。
Where:In America in particular。
Why:In 1621 colonists from England set off to America on a ship-Mayflower。They
lived among the native settlers - Indians, and invited them to share a meal together。
President Abraham Lincoln said we ought to mark one day on November to give thanks
for all we possess。
