Dolphins (海豚) are not fish, but warm-blooded animals. They live in groups, and speak to each other in their own language. In this way they are like other animals, such as bees and birds. But dolphins are very different from almost all land animals. Their brain is nearly the same size as our own, and they live a long time --- at least twenty or thirty years.
Like some animals, dolphins use sound to help them find their way around. They also make these sounds to talk to each other and to help them find food. We now know they do not use their ears to receive these sounds, but the lower part of the mouth, called the jaw.
Strangely, dolphins seem to like man, and for thousands of years there have been stories about the dolphin and its friendship with people.
There is a story about sailors in the 19th century. In a dangerous part of the sea off the coast of New Zealand, they learnt to look for a dolphin called Jack. From 1871 to 1903 Jack met every boat in the area and showed it the way. Then in 1903 a passenger on a boat called The Penguin shot and wounded Jack. He recovered and for nine years more continued to guide all ships through the area-except for The Penguin.
Today, some people continue to kill dolphins, but many countries of the world now protect them and in these places it is against the law to kill them.

Many refugee children would consider it the happiest day of their lives if they received a handful of marbles(弹珠) as a present.
They dream of gifts which children in developed countries take for granted.Maybe a book to read.or a pencil and an exercise book of their very own.

Hands-on experience is still attractive to many buyers, although online ordering is popular in the UK today.
  Oxford Street
London is shoppers’ paradise, and most visitors head for Oxford Street. Halfway along is Selfridges, one of the world’s first department stores where the architecture and window dressing impress even before you go in. There are at least four other major stores on this street, plus Europe’s largest music shop. In December the atmosphere is especially festive because of the Christmas lights which are always lighted by a politician, a great sportsman, or a super star.
  Kensington High Street
A fashionable area for shopping is Kensington High Street. One of its department stores even has a roof garden-good for relaxing between purchases. There’s also an organic food superstore.
  Borough Market
You can’t visit London and not go to a supermarket. One of the oldest and best for food is probably Borough Market on the south bank of the Thames. Get off the underground at London Bridge and wander among fresh fish stalls, bakeries, and fruit and vegetable sellers. You can also buy specialist food to take away, like cheeses, pork pies, mustard and chutney.
  More places for bargains
Portobello Road on a Saturday is your best choice for jewelry or collector’s items. It’s a short walk from the subway station at Notting Hill Gate and you never know what you will find. For clothes, Camden Market is the place. It gets a little crowded at the weekends, though. Convent Garden offers great experience for the simple pleasure of looking at jewelry and gifts.
16.Oxford Street becomes special in December for ____________.
  A. the wonderful window dressing      B. the Europe’s largest music shop
  C. the lights lit by a famous person      D. many bargains to choose from
17.To enjoy food, you can go to _____________.
  A. Borough Market                  B. Camden Market
  C. Kensington High Street             D. Portobello Road

Parents will do anything for their children. Whether it would be the food, clothes, or the place they live in,parents will always mare their children have the best of everything. One of the biggest concerns that parents currently have is educating their children. They are faced with lots of difficulties when it comes to education for their young ones. Choices include private school, charter school, public school or home schooling.
Fortunately for parents, there are a variety of different strategies that they can take in order to in-crease their child’s overall intelligence. According to Ross A. Thompson, PhD, professor of psychology at the University of California at Davis, a child’s brain will actually reach 90% of its full size by the time they start kindergarten.
Researchers at Northwestern University in Chicago concluded that playing a musical instrument directly affected the brain stem, the lower section of the brain. Moreover, children that learn an instrument at an early age tend to continue it when they are older. And numerous studies show that a well balanced meal is essential for a child’s mental as well as physical health. Some other researchers recommended that a second language should be taught when children are in preschool. They state that three to four years of age is the perfect time and that any age under four would work perfectly fine for a child’s brain development.
The average child will learn how to read between kindergarten and second grade. Many parents can give their children a jump start by teaching them to read before they start school. Children could have an adequate bacnd of the alphabet and sounds of words before attending school. This can be done by simply reading to them whenever you want. The more comfortable they get,the easier the process will be.
19.From the first paragraph, we can infer that        .

“A good book for children should simply be a good book in its own right", says Mollie Hunter. Born and brought up near Edinburgh, Mollie has devoted her talents to writing primarily for young people. She firmly believes that there is and should always be a wider
audience for any good book whatever its main market is.In Mollie’s opinion, it is necessary to
mall use of language and she enjoys telling a story, which is what every writer should be doing."If you aren't telling a story, you’re a very dead writer indeed." she says. With the chief function of a writer being to entertain, Mollie is indeed an entertainer."I have this great love of
not only the meaning of language but of the music of language,’ she says, "This love goes back to early childhood.I had a school teacher who used to ask us what we would like to be when
we grew up and, because my family always had dogs, and I was very good at handling them, I said I wanted to work with dogs, and the teacher always said‘Nonsense, Mollie; dear, you’ll be a writer.’ So finally I thought that this woman must have something, since she was a good
teacher and I decided when I was nine that I would be a writer."
This childhood intention is described in her novel, A Sound of Chariots, which although written in the third person is clearly autobiographical (自传体的) and gives a picture both of Mollie’s ambition and her struggle towards its achievement.Thoughts of her childhood inevitably(不可避免地)brought thoughts of the time when her home was still a village with
