Here are some books that you can read if you have time.
Landline by Rainbow Rowell
I’m not sure if it’s because Rowell has tried writing from an adult perspective and I really prefer her young adult style. I was introduced to her writing when I learned about Eleanor and Park this year and I’m thinking she is going to be the author I need to follow no matter what she writes.
Yes Please by Amy Poehler
I’m a big Amy Poehler fan. And I think every year you should pick someone you enjoy and read his or her books, and in this case, it’s Amy. I haven’t read Yes Please yet, but she is entertaining and funny, and from what I have read about the book, I plan to buy a copy this year.
The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins
A mystery that has been described as a psychological thriller(惊险读物), The Girl on the Train, is a must-read for those who love such stories. Hawkins’ first novel is the kind of book that keeps you up at night until you finish it. And everyone needs that kind of read now and then, right?
Inside the O’Briens by Lisa Genova
Lisa Genova is one of my favorite authors, her first novel, Still Nice, is the one I often mention when people are looking for a good book. Inside the O’Briens is a story about a family man with Huntington’s disease.
The Boonknown Americans by Cristina Henriquez
I’m pulled in by the brief details of these teenagers who come to America from other countries. I love reading about their anger, hope and love.

Don is a good golf player and a car restorer. He is still alive today thanks to an AED and a quick-acting rescuer.
On an August afternoon last year, Don was playing golf at the Monticello Country Club. Suddenly, he had an extremely anxious feeling and just couldn’t settle down. He was scared. Not knowing what to do, Don called his son who called 911 later.
Minutes later, Don suddenly stopped talking, became unconscious and turned blue. He stopped breathing. A man who had been trained how to use an AED recognized Don’s life-threatening condition. He took an AED nearby, once the AED pads were placed on Don’s chest, the AED analyzed Don’s heart rhythm and it immediately self-charged to shock Don’s heart.
Once the AED was charged, it told the rescuer to push the shoctton to deliver shocks. The first shock was not successful and the AED immediately repeated the procedure and the rescuer delivered the second shock.
A few seconds later, after the second shock, Don began breathing and his skin color returned to normal. Don soon regained consciousness and immediately started asking the rescuer what had just happened.
Thanks to the AED and the trained rescuer, Don continues to restore cars and play golf.
