  Unit 2 Working The Land
  A pioneer for all people
  Step1 Warming-up(3mins)
  1. Introduce some words related to the text: sunburnt, super hybrid rice, output, hunger(hungry), circulate, sorghum, expert and focus on, making the Ss better prepared for their performance in class.
  2. Then let Ss enjoy a Poem By Li Shen in Tang Dynasty to remind Ss not to waste food.
  Farmers weeding at noon,
  Sweat down the field soon.
  Who knows food on a tray,
  Due to their toiling day.
  2. Show Ss some pictures of plants ,crops and introduce some farming methods to them. to make them familiar with work relevant to farming .
  [意图说明]熟悉本课生词,为学生表达扫除障碍;通过唐诗《悯农》揭示本课中心话题---农业。
  Step II  Pre-reading (7 mins)
  Describe the picture and thint the question: What’s the main food in East Asian and Southeast Asian countries? Lead students to answer “Rice. It is said that there are 2.4 billion  people to eat rice every day throughout the world.”
  Though we have enough to eat , there are still some places in the world , Africa, in particular, with people going hungry and die of hunger. In the meantime, show pictures(describing hungry children and a world without adequate food ) and analyze the reason why we don’t have abundant farming field. Thus, here comes the problem: How to feed the world’s people with such limited farmland? YuanLongping---A Pioneer for All People makes it possible.

  Introduce the life and achievement of Dr Yuang Longping and compare two pictures of common rice and super hybrid rice.

  Step IV: Post-reading (8 mins )
  教学反思
  本节课是人教版高中英语必修四第二单元。本单元的中心话题是“农业”。通过本节课的学习,我在教学方面有如下几点反思:[来
  1.熟悉课程词汇,有助于扫除阅读和理解障碍;唐诗《悯农》引入,让学生对中心话题---“农业”产生亲近感。这一部分,采用了word-guessing, 锻炼了阅读理解能力之一,保证了知识能力目标的达成。
  2. 适量插入图片,形象生动地将矛盾呈现:耕地不足和人口增长对粮食需求增加。继而引出本文人物---袁隆平,并将其简介课件体现,让学生了解其主要成就。
  3. 文章主体部分的阅读逐段击破,采用了scanning, careful reading 等基本阅读技巧。问题设计形式多样,包括寻找细节信息,填表,排序,选择,问答等,有利于不同层次学生的理解梯度,对于文章的深层理解基本达到教学目标。
  4. 读后brain storm,通过小组讨论及组间竞赛summarize伟大农学家袁隆平博士的高尚品质,学生表现踊跃,情感价值观目标有所收获。
  5. 本节课围绕“任务型”教学原则,无论图片、文字均以促进学生思考为导向,思维容量大,目标达成度较高。
  几点遗憾:
  1 应尽量全英教学,不能因为学生的一些要求而降低课堂语言标准,要让学生适应讲英语的课堂。
  2 课堂大声朗读英语的机会少,不利于学生语感以及语音能力的培养。
  3 问题的探究仍可以继续深入,比如借袁隆平的生活态度来折射我们自己的生活。还是应该鼓励更多学生课堂活跃积极地表达自己。
  4 如果能把短文练笔放在课中而非课后效果应该好很多。
