Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Lead-in: Show students some pictures about sports events, ask them whether they can recognize them.
Play the theme song of 2014 Brazilian FIFA World Cup; students will get a general idea of the history of the World Cup.
Asdents what they know about the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
Step 2 Listening strategy:
Listening strategy: tell students to listen for specific information lit, however, or, I mean. Show them some examples and ask them to map sentences.
Step 3: Listening for specifics
Warming-up questions: Asdents to name some famous football players.
Asestions: what makes a good football player?

Step 4: Maggestions
Design a new daily routine for Chinese athletes. First tell students the formal and less direct ways to maggestions, and then asdents to think, pair and share.

Directions: Turn to page 35, read the two leaflets from the Sports Association, and compare them with the athletes’ daily routine. Give advice to the athletes on how their daily routine should be changed.
