  Teaching aims:
  Knowledge Objectives:
  1. Learn to read and write the target language.

  2. Grasp some important sentences:
  1> Sun Yat-sen, who was the leader of the 1911 Revolution, first suggested the idea of a dam across the Yangtze River in 1919
  2> Burning coal causes serious air pollution and increases global warming.
  3> The dam will generate electricity equal to about 40 million tons of coal without causing so much air pollution.
  Ability Objectives
  At the end of this class, students will be able to:
  1. improve their reading skills to get the important sentences and detailed information to summarize the structure and main idea of the passage.
  2. talt advantages and disadvantages of the Three Gorges Dam by using some important words and expressions
  3. imitate a hearing.
  Affection, attitudes and value
  1. To develop the students’ sense of cooperation
  2. To arouse the Ss to know more The Three Gorges Dam and strengthen the national pride.
  Teaching important points:
  1. Enable the students to master the target language.
  2. Help the students to fully understand the text by using reading skills
  3. Enable the students to know more about the Three Gorges Dam, especially its advantages and disadvantages.

  1. How to guide the students know more about the Three Gorges Dam, especially its advantages and disadvantages. Value the Three Gorges Dam correctly and objectively.
  2. How to make the students master the reading skills to get information and solve the problems.
  3. How to improve the students’ abilities and talk in class actively.

  Step 1 Review and warming-up (3mins)
  1. Checdents’ homework and read out the sentences.
  2. Present a poem written by Mao Zedong and let the students read it.
  3. Asestion to lead in the topic.
  “Which dam is it? ”
  4. Enjoy a short video of the Three Gorges Dam and lead in the topic.
  “What do you think of it?” Is it great?

  1. Make a brainstorm.
