课题名称 Module 3 Unit 1 Festivals around the world Period 4: Writing
课程标准 To inspire students’ interest in writing;
To raise the students’ awareness to maation when finishing their composition.
学习目标 To write a composition by using words and expressions that they have learned in this unit;
Learn to write a composition through cooperative learning method;
Broaden students’ minds to know foreign culture and customs.

How to write a compositioin about festivals?

Use words and expressions correctly in the composition
教学过程设计
情境设计 问题/任务设计
Leading-in:
Situation 1:
Hand out pictures of different festivals to each group.
Writing
Situation 2: Pre-writing
Think of the festival you are going to write
Situation 3: While-writing
Pay attention to the following aspects:
Sentence patterns;
Tansitional words;
Arrangement of the composition.
Situation 4: Post-writing
Polish the composition
Situation 5: Evaluation
Evaluate the composition Task 1
Group-discussion:
the name and content of the festival in the picture
Task 2 Individual work:
Thinking about the words and phrases that can be used in writing.
Task 3 Individual work:
The content should include the following points:
Date, origin, what it celebrates,what people do....
Task 4: Group-discussion
Perfect your writing, let your partner correct the errors in your composition.
Task 5:
1. Choose a representative in each group to read the composition to the class and let others guess what the festival is.
2. Evaluate the composition
设计意图:The main purpose of the design is as follows:
1. To stimulate students’ writing interest by appreciating pictures about festivals .
2. To map a compostion by using the words and expressions that they have learned in this unit;
3. To perfect the writing by correcting errors;
4. to evaluate the writing by teacher and other students.

春节是我最喜欢的中国的节日,它是用来庆祝农历新年和春天的到来。届时,一家人聚到一起,共享盛宴。在有些地方,人们会做一些好吃的来纪念亡灵。另外,在春节期间,人们会身着盛装去拜访亲戚和朋友。孩子们可能会受到来自长辈的压岁钱,因此,他们总是盼望过春节。还有很多地方,人们还会燃放爆竹。总之,人们喜欢春节,并为这些传统的习俗而自豪。
One possible version
My favorite festival is Spring Festival in China,which is meant to celebrate the arrival of Lunar New Year and the coming of spring.At that time,families will gather together and have a feast.In some places,many delicious food will be made in memory of the dead.Besides,during this festival people will dress up and pay a visit to their friends and relatives.And the children may receive lucky money from their elders.So they are always looking forward to it.In many places,people even set off fireworks.In a word,people enjoy the Spring Festival and are proud of these traditional customs.
