When Peng Liyuan stepped off the plane in Moscow, the whole world wanted to know who dressed the elegant first lady. The reporter released the secret—Ma Ke.
Peng Liyuan has been wearing Ma Ke’s designs for more than a decade,a fact that was only highlighted recently when she was on her first state visit, accompanying her husband President Xi Jinping. The elegant and attractive Peng, formerly a popular singer, has been compared with the US’ first lady Michelle Obama and France’s Carla BruniSarkozy, since stepping off the airplane in Moscow on March 22.Suddenly,everyone was curious to know more about the first lady’s wardrobe.
Even so,Ma prefers a lowkey approach.“If you eat a tasty egg why would you want to see the hen?” she says of all the media attention.
Ma’s relationship with Peng began 10 years ago after a concert in Guangzhou when a reporter told Peng she knew the designer behind the label Exception de Mixmind.Peng asked for an introduction because she was a fan of Ma’s designs and had been wearing them for years.
The two naturally became friends.Ma says:“The painting reflects the painter, and clothes reflect both the designer and the wearer.Someone desires fame and wealth,or love and sympathy;what you have in your heart is reflected in the design. Those who don’t share my philosophy won’t buy my clothes.Peng is a caring person,

Apart from psychological illness,we are all largely responsible for our own emotional health. What we say to ourselves over and over for days, weeks, months, and sometimes years, has a great effect on how we see ourselves. This also contributes to many mental health disorders.
Many of us have problems with negative thoughts playing on the channel of our minds, but if you’re buried in them and believe them, they could be wearing your sense of selfesteem (自尊).Here are a few beliefs that indicate you may need to switch the channel:I’m not good enough?/I don’t deserve...?/No one likes me?/I’m a failure?
Negative thoughts remind you of your bad feelings and they bring your focus on your failures, and they get you nowhere.
What can you do?Here are some suggestions:
Switch the channel when negative thoughts appear.Selftalk is not so obvious that we often don’t notice its effect on our mood and belief systems.Key things to notice are “if only” or “what if” statements:the former keeps you stuck in the past with regret, while the latter keeps you fearful of the future. There is nothing you can do about the past, and the future isn’t here yet,so stay in the present moment.
Recognize that actions always follow beliefs. You’ll find yourself behaving in ways that are consistent to your beliefs. So,start believing the best about yourself:act as if you believe that you’re a valuable and worthy person.
Develop positive selftalk rather than negative selftalk.Instead of always looking down upon yourself in your head, think of some things you actually lit yourself. What are your strengths? What are you good at?Instead of saying “I’m a loser”,try saying,“I am capable./I’m good at.../I accept myself the way I am.”
Thinking poorly about ourselves gets us nowhere and is extremely selflimiting.Decide today to turn off the negative selftalk channel in your mind and develop your true potential.

【2014高考英语综合能力测试题】
When we consider the large number of people who need help, being part of the solution can seem overwhelming. There are hundreds of thousands of kids trapped in quitting schools in the U.S. alone. There are many millions of starving children around the world. How can a single person who isn't a billionaire have an impact? Where do you start? Start with one small act.
When Hilde Back was a schoolteacher in Sweden, she decided to sponsor (赞助) one child's education in Kenya. Hilde's sponsorship of Chris cost about $15 per month. Most poor children in Kenya cannot afford to pay secondary school tuition. Unfortunately, without an education, an extremely difficult and poor life is practically guaranteed. Thanks to Hilde's generosity, Chris avoided that fate.
Chris graduated from high school, went to University of Nairobi and then attended Harvard Law School. He became a U.N. Human Rights Advocate, and he started a charity. He got the name of his anonymous (匿名的) sponsor through the Swedish embassy and named his nonprofit organization the Hilde Baccation Fund (HBEF) after the sponsor he never met.
HBEF pays tuition for poor students in Kenya. Since the charity's start, 350 children have been supported. Three hundred and fifty lives have been changed directly so far. That doesn't even include the impact on their families. And who knows how many of these students will be inspired, as Chris was, to give back.
