  Class Senior 1
  一、教学目标:
  At the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
  be acquainted with some words related to different types of music;
  describe a piece of music;
  understand the role of music better.
  二、教学重点难点
  Lead students to summarize the features of different music types;
  Prepare students with some words and structures they can use to describe music;
  Guide students to relate themselves to music.

  Stage I. Lead-in
  Step 1 Enjoy a video clip of our school’s chorus. Show the video clip. To arouse students’ interest.
  Step 2 Express their feelings after listening to the song;
  The performer introduces some bacnd information of the song.
  Listen and guide students to express their feelings.
  To activate students’ bacnd knowledge of music.
  Step 3 Pair work: brainstorm the music types and share their likes and dislikes. Introduce the topic and the aim of the class;
  Get the students to share their ideas in groups.
  To prepare students for the coming listening.
  Stage II. Listening
  Step 4 Listen to the audio and fill in the blanks on the handout. Guide the students to find some details of music types. To practice identifying key words while listening.
  Step 5 Pair wormmarize the main features of each music type. Write down the main features of different music types. To prepare for the guessing game.
  Step 6 Listen to 5 pieces of music and guess the music types they belong to. Help students understand the features of different types better. To solidify the knowledge on music types.
  Stage III. Speaking
  Step 7 Observe the example provided by the teacher and learn how to describe music. Guide students to describe music using appropriate words and structures. To provide an example for students to describe music.
  Step 8 Group work:
  Brainstorm the words that can be used to describe music;
  Listen to two songs and choose one to describe it.
  Get students to practice describing music.
  To consolidate the words and structures to describe music.
  Step 9 Group work:
  Discuss the role music plays in students’ life;
  Share with the whole class.
  Observe and offer help if necessary. To help students get a better understanding of the role of music.
  Step 10 Read a poem about music together. Read with students. To put an end to the class.
  Homework:  Write a short paragraph to recommend your favorite song to your classmates and explain why the song means so much to you.
