----Watching, Listening and speaking
(一) Analysis of the teaching material and teaching aims
1. Analysis of the teaching material
This is the first period. It will be used as a warming-up period. Students can get to be familiar with this topic by gradually being immersed in the vocabulary and sentences related to the Internet and telecommunications. P.51 and P. 54 will be dealt with.
2. Knowledge aims
(1)To know something about computers, the Internet and telecommunications
(2)To expand students’ vocabulary about computers and the Internet
3. Ability aims
(1)To know the meaning of a certain word in a context.
(2)To identify and understand a speaker’s attitude and point of view
4. Emotional aims
To enhance Ss’ interest in learning English and let them experience it is fun to learn English through videos
(二)Teaching key points and special difficulties
1. Key points
How the students can capture the information when watching a video and listening to a conversation.
2. Special difficulties
It may be difficult to understand a video.
(三) The way of learning and teaching
Direct teaching, task-based learning with multi-media equipment
(四) Teaching procedures
For the students who do well in English, the first method is recommended. Not only are the students required to do the exercises, but also are required to make some discussions on the topic. For the students who are not good English learners, the second method is recommended. They should be mainly focused on the process of input.
Method 1
Step 1 warming up (10 m)
Watch a video and answer the questions. It is about the design of iphone 4.It is more than just a product. It can change the way we connect with each other. In this part, students read aloud the key sentences from the video and practice loop and say. This will greatly improve their memory of the sentence structure.
Learning to learn
When listening, you can never expect to catch every detail of the listening materials. The main task to do is that you catch the main idea and the specific information of the listening materials.
Step 2 (5 m)
Teach the vocabulary directly. Use simple English to explain the new words.
