Teaching Aims:
To use paratives and superlatives to pare two or more people and things
Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Lead-in
1. Self-introduction
2. Introduce Snoopy to Ss. Underline some adjectives while introducing Snoopy. Then tell Ss these words are adjectives.
3. Show Ss another two pictures, continue to explain the use of adjectives.
4. Work out the rule: We use adjectives to describe people and things. We can put it before a noun or after a linking verbs.
Step 2 Presentation (paratives and superlatives)
(Present paratives and superlatives by showing several groups of pictures.)
1. T: Snoopy is ing to China. First, he arrives in Beijing. He wants to e to Nanjing, how will he e here?
The bike is fast. The car is faster. The train is the fastest (Ss read the sentences on the Bb) Why will he e here by bike/coach/plane?
Ss learn the first rule of forming paratives and superlatives.
2. T: Snoopy arrives in Nanjing. He meets three dogs.
Ss learn the second rule of forming paratives and superlatives.
3. T: Snoopy goes to Shanghai. There he meets three funny pigs.
(Give some hints, have Ss to make up sentences on their own.)
Ss learn the third rule of forming paratives and superlatives.
4. T: Then Snoopy goes to Hangzhou.
(List two sentence structures of paratives.)
1. A be parative than B.
2. Which …be parative, A or B?
Ss learn the fourth rule of forming paratives and superlatives.
5. pare Hangzhou and Shanghai.
Have Ss make up sentences on their own.
Ss learn the fifth rule of forming paratives and superlatives.
