Step 1: Warm up
Do you like singing?
Who is your favourite singer?
Who is good at singing?
(invite one or two students to sing a song for us)
Step2: Presentation
1. Teach some new words: famous, social, solve
Play the video of Celine Dion. Ask students
Do you like this song? It’s nice, isn’t it?
What is the name of this song?
Who is the singer of this song?
Tel students she is my favourite singer—Celine Dion.(such a ing and beautiful lady)
She is famous, a lot of people know her. And she is also popular, she has a lot of fans
She likes singing very much. When she was very young, she had a dream. She would like to be a singer and sing for people around the world .
Ask students :Would you like to be a singer? Would you like to be as popular as Celine Dion?
Make a guess. Invite some students to talk about his/her future plan and other students guess what they would like to be when they grow up
T: Say something more about your future plans
Show students a picture of social workers.

Step 3 listening A1-A3
Different people have different future plans. let’s talk about Millie and Sandy’s future plans.
A1)Millie is talking to Amy about her future plans.
Here is a table. Millie would like to do some of the things. Listen and put a tick in the correct boxes.
A2)Millie is writing a letter to the editor the Teenagers magazine. Here is the letter about his future plan.
What would Millie would like to be when she grows up?
What do social workers do?
A3)Sandy is also talking about her future plan.
Listen to get the general idea: What would Sandy like to be when she grows up? Why? It’s a little difficult to answer “why”, tell students it doesn’t matter. Listen again.
Read the letter first and play the tape
Play the tape again if necessary. And check the answers
Step4 speap: talking about friends
Who is Sandy talking to about her future plan?(Amy, Sandy’s friend)
Who do you often talk to about your future plans, your problems? Your friends, teachers or parents?
Read the conversation and answer questions

What’s he like?
What is he good at?
What would he like to be when he grows up?
How to talk about friends. Draw a flow chart
Make up dialogues. Students can choose one of them.
Topic 1: Tell Miss Angel about your best friend, maybe you can get advice from Miss Angel.
Topic 1: 20 years later, all of you have grown up. You met your friend again at a student association(同学会). Tell your wife or husband about what your friend is like.
Step 5: Discussion
Hand out letters from Miss Angel in which there are some ideas about making friends. Divide the students into two parts. Part 1 will get one of the letters 1.Part 2 will get the other.
Ask each part to discuss:
What ideas can you get from the letter?
Tell students: Cherish close friends, you will have a maximum of the wealth.
Step 6: Homework
1. Change letters and read it.
2. write down your conversation. Activate students’interest and prepare for presentation
