  英语报刊阅读课的实践与反思
  ——以21st Century Teens Senior 2 Edition, Issue 491阅读教学为例

  【Analysis of the text】
  这节课主要是《21st Century Teens》报刊阅读。报纸第一版的主打文章,很吸引学生,贴近学生实际;第二版Society是关于时事;第三版Campus关注校园热点;第四、第五版Culture and Discovery是关于文化休闲和知识探索,第六版Extra Credit是地道美文阅读欣赏;第七版是Quiz Time每日一练;第八版是Fun Time开心驿站。其中,运动、娱乐等都是学生特别感兴趣的话题;校园生活讲的都是发生在学生身边的事情,让学生感同身受;新闻焦点帮助学生了解时事,锻炼学生的思维能力。对于我们课本上的课文的处理,主要是以精读为主;对于Teens报纸上的文章,我们作为平时学生课后泛读材料,有时会对学生的报刊阅读在课堂上进行阅读策略的相关指导,主要涉及把握文章的主旨大意、文章结构、细节信息的处理、适当的处理文章的语言和帮助学生克服阅读上的理解障碍,习得语言知识,掌握运用一些核心词汇。本节课,选择了Take the chance, Interacting online, Learning news, Magical melodies from the Beatles四篇文章作为核心文章进行处理,另选一篇Facing up to fears 作为机动文章,进行灵活处理。这几篇文章有一个内在的主题:How to be an outstanding teenager,所以整个教学过程以此为主线展开。
  【Curriculum Standard】
  1. 能从一般性文章中获取和处理主要信息;
  2. 能理解文章主旨和作者意图;
  3. 能通过上下文克服生词困难,理解语篇意义;
  4. 能通过文章中的线索进行推理;
  5. 能阅读适合高中生的英语报刊或杂志;
  【Learning Objectives】
  By the end of this class, students will be able to:
  1.summarize and report the main ideas of some passages with one or two sentences.
  2.find out some specific information from the passages.
  3.explain some new words and expressions contextually and use them properly.
  4.talt a certain topic and share some information with others.
  【Teaching Methods】
  Through reading some passages, students are supposed to practice some language sch as predicting, skimming and scanning, note-taking, retelling, vocabulary learning. Classroom activities are designed to involve the students in practicing using the language.
  【Assessment】
  In the process of learning, the students are encouraged to participate in the activities focused on the learning objectives. The students’ performance is commented on right in class and a discussion related to the learning material is carried out to motivate students to do some oral practice.
  【Teaching Procedures】
  I. Passage one:Take a Chance [P1]
  1.Show the students a short video related to Justin Bieber.
  2.Talt about some gifted boys and introduce some new words with the help of pictures.
  (设计意图:通过观看题《功夫梦》的主题曲“Never say never again”视频短片,直接导入这堂课第一篇文章。这既可以吸引学生的注意力又可以激发学生的学习兴趣,使学生对本节课将学内容产生求知欲望。同时结合图片和情景使学生更好的理解单词,扫除阅读任务过程中的词汇障碍。)
  3.Go through the passage and then find out some relevant information.

  (设计意图:通过学生略读,从整体上理解这篇文章,同时把所学到的阅读策略运 真正运用起来,并且为接下来进一步获取信息做好铺垫。)
  1. Read the passage again and try to use some words and phrases in the passage to fill in the  
  blanks.
  1. Two years ago Chance was only a sixth grader, waiting for adolescence to begin.
  2. When Chance was a kid, everyone told him he was never going to succeed because he was 
  from countryside.
  3) Even Bieber’s manager pays attention to Chance.
  4) You have to just keep following your dreams and let nobody disappoint you.
  5) Now Chance is living his dreams by touring with famous artists around the world and is 
  going to finish his record album.
