  ※Main learning objectives:
  ♦ Knowledge objectives:
  1, review the words and phrases learned in this module and use them to describe a place and to adopt them in certain context correctly, e.g., attractive, unattractive, pretty, gorgeous, unemployed, employment, fascinating, architecture, neighborhood, afford(to), put up, shopping mall…;
  2, use some expressions to describe the changes of a neighborhood, e.g., nowhere is changing faster than …. / in the past…/ used to/ but now, great changes have taken place/ another big change is that/ what’s more…
  ♦ Ability objectives:
  1. “learning first and teaching second” by previewing and discovering the knowledge through completing certain tasks in the previewing case;
  2. cultivate the Ss’ ability of working in groups to complete certain tasks;
  3. enable the Ss to write a brief report of the changes of a neighborhood by doing a survey.
  ♦ Cultural awareness:
  1. aware the changes around us and learn to appreciate and love our community;
  2. cultivate the awareness of cooperating with partners as well as thinking independently.
  ※Important point: adopt the expressions to describe the changes of a community.
  ※Difficult point: adopt the expressions slly and correctly in certain context to develop a passage.
  ※ Teaching methods: task-based learning, discussion and writing.
  ※ Teaching aids: a blackboard, pictures and multi-media
  ※ Main teaching procedures:
  Stage1, checr homework
  Step1, check if the Ss have finished their homework in the previewing case.
  Stage2, lead-in
  Step1, lead in the topic of great changes around Guoxing Avenue by presenting some pictures of its old look and some of its new look, and check the Ss’ understanding of the main ideas of each paragraph in the passage Great Changes around Guoxing Avenue (a survey done by the teacher) in order to help the Ss make clear how the passage develop.
  1. Match the main ideas of each paragraph:
  Para1             Opinions.
  Para2             The old loooxing Avenue.
  Para3             The new loooxing Avenue.
  Stage3, brainstorming and discovering
  Step1, ask the Ss what have introduced in the passage by ticking the items provided in activity2, step2 in the previewing case. Then, instruct them to brainstorm the things that can be introduced in Yusha Community in Haikou.
  Step2, guide the Ss to discover the expressions that can be used to describe the old look and the new look in the passage Great Changes around Guoxing Avenue. The T should write down their findings on the Bb.
  E.g., in the past…used to be… (narrow, old, unattractive, short…); there once was/ were…everywhere; another big change is that…
