　　Step 1 Lead-in    
　　1. What is a handbook? (Presenting two examples of handbooks.)
　　2. What makes a good handbook? (Discuss in groups.)
　　Step 2 Reading
　　I.Read the essay: Gold days and then answer the following questions:
　　1.Is the writer old or young? How do you know that?
　　2.What time does the writer consider to be the happiest of his life?
　　3.What does the writer thinng people can do while old people can’t?
　　II. Read the essay : My future happiness and answer the following questions:
　　1.Is the writer a teenager or an adult? How do you know that?
　　2.Why does the writer think that her happiest days will be in the future?
　　3.What does the writer thinlt can do while a teenager can’t?
　　4. Why does the writer think it is nice to think the happiest days are still ahead of her
　　III.Task-based reading on P53 新学
　　Step3 Discussion . Discuss ways to keep happy
　　1. Work in groups to discuss ways to keep happy.
　　2. Offer some advice on keeping happy.
　　Step 4 Project time
　　1. Planning
　　All class is divided into several groups, choose a topic for your group’s happiness handbook. (eg.Golden Days/ My Future Happiness)
　　2. Preparing
　　Take notes of the story.
　　Is it a specific happy event or a general feeling of happiness?
　　How long will the essay be?
　　Should it be typed or handwritten?
　　Are illustrations(插图) needed in your handbook?
　　3.Producing
　　Each group member should write an essay.
　　Someone should make the cover
　　Another will put all the essays together.
　　Another will make the table of contents.
　　4. Presenting (next class )
　　Bear in mind:
　　1. Lasting happiness comes from creating happiness. It consists of working to make life better for you and others.
　　2. Love makes great difference to happiness. If you have love in your heart, you’ll have happiness in your life.
　　3. Love is the master key which opens the gates of happiness.
