Step 1: lead-in
1) Show the pictures on the screen and lead the students to think about the question:
Many problems and disasters happen in the world. Who es to help solve these problem?

P1. A terrible financial crisis has happened throughout the world and many people have lost their jobs.
P2.Many natural disasters break out everywhere in the world.

T: We can see so many problems in the world today. Who can we turn to for help when these happen?

T : Very good. Do you want to learn more about the UN? So we’ll learn more about the organizations of the UN.
Step2. Presentation
1) Show the pictures of the related UN organizations with the Chinese and English names and their main functions as well. Ask the students to read the sentences about their functions to make the students understand that different organizations are responsible for different problems.ppt
T: Now please look at the screen and pay attention to the names of different organizations. You should read the sentences about their functions or purposes.
2) Ask the students to match the Chinese names with the English names of the organization to make sure the students can understand the basic meaning in Chinese.ppt
3) Ask the students to read the English names of the organizations after the teacher and then the students to read together to make sure the students can read correctly.
