　　By learning about different kinds of festivals, students realize the true meaning behind festival celebrations.

　　Teaching procedures:
　　Step 1: Lead in (2minutes)
　　Brainstorming: Ask the students to say as many festivals as they can.
　　Step 2: New language input (15 minutes)
　　1. Pre-reading:
　　Before reading, ask the students about their favorite seasons and festivals in those seasons.
　　2. Reading
　　1) Read the 3 short passages and ask the students to take down the notes according to the information given.
　　2) Check the information.
　　3) Listen to the text recording and fill in some detailed information.
　　4) A summary on how to describe a festival.
　　Step 3: Language practice (15 minutes)
　　1. Team work: Organize the class into 6 teams and ask each team to design a festival of their own.
　　2. Each team introduces its own festival design.
　　Step 4: Culture awareness and moral education (6 minutes)

　　An important festival in my country would be Norooz which is the first day of the year and also the first day of spring. It is very important for us because of many things. First, it is an inseparable part of our culture. Second, because of the long holiday in this time, people have the chance to clean their homes, pay a visit to elderlies and above all, go to holiday and escape from the exhausting days of working. In addition, it is green everywhere.The blossom on the trees, the sound of the rivers and singing of the birds can enchant every viewer and ta to another dimension. I like this festival because it brings me happiness.
