  Good afternoon, everyone . I’m Lan Xiaohua. I e from Jianyang. It’s my great pleasure to be here sharing my teaching ideas with you. Today I’m going to talt Section C, topic 3 of Unit 4, which is from Project English Book 3. I’ll prepare to talt the lesson from six parts:
  First:  Analysis of the teaching material
  Second:  Analysis of the teaching methods
  Third:  Analysis of the learning strategies
  Next:  Analysis of the teaching procedures
  Then:  Blackboard design
  At last: Self-assessing
  Part One : Analysis of the teaching material
  A: Status and function
  This unit is about amazing science. By studying of this unit, I’ll enable the students to know the serious attitude towards science and develop the interest in science. At the same time ,let the students know how to learn a prolonged text. From this lesson, it starts asking the Ss to grasp contents of each passage. Therefore, this lesson is in the important position of the teaching material. If the Ss can learn it well, it will be helpful for them to learn the rest of this unit.As we know ,reading belongs to the input during the process of the language learning.The input has great effect on output , such as speaking and writing . So how to make Ss be interested in the lesson is important.
  B. Analysis of the students 
  As we r students are naturally imaginative, active and creative. They learn best when feeling happy and secure. But they are “lazy”, they don’t like reciting words , can’t understand how to learn English , dare not speak English in public. So we should be patient and tolerant, and try to create opportunities for them to develop their language through experimenting and municating with others.
  C: Teaching aims and demands:
  The teaching aim’s basis is established according to Junior School English syllabus’ provision. Listening , speaking, reading and writing are the four skills of language skills. Listening is an important basis for speaking. Both reading and listening are receptive skills. Obviously, writing es last in our first language development. There are three objects.
  1) Knowledge objects:
  The 1st aim:  Learn more knowledge about Mars.
  The 2nd aim:  To study the new words “solar ; Roman; diameter; storm; gravity ”,by learning 1a.
  The 3rd aim:  The Ss can hear, read, and use the main sentence patterns:1) It is reported that…2) Its diameter is 53% as long as that of the earth. 3) So a person who weighs 90 kilos on the earth weighs only 36 kilos on Mars.
  The 4th aim:  The Ss can understand the content of the lesson.
  2) Ability objects:
  To Improve the students’ reading ability.
  To practice the students’ ability of working in pairs.
  To develop the students’ abilities of munication by learning the useful structures.
  3) Moral objects:
  Foster students’ active attitude towards science and explore in the field of science positively.
  To enable the students to be polite and love life.
  To cultivate students’ interest in learning English.
  To help them establish good learning habits and develop useful learning strategies.
  D: Teaching key and difficult points.
  The teaching key and difficult points’ basis is established according to section C of topic 3, in the teaching material’s position and function .
  1) Key points:
  To help the students to municate with each other.
  To enable the students to study in groups and co-operate slly .
  To develop the students’ interest in English.
  2) Difficult points:
  Students learn the skills and strategies to read a prolonged text.
  Learn something about Mars and space.
  E: Teaching aids:(I’ll use some teaching aids to help my teaching.)
  The picture of Mars, tape recorder, multi-media, cards , school things and so on.
  They will be needed in this lesson. The teaching syllabus says that it’s necessary for teachers to use modern teaching facilities. It will help to increase the class density and improve our teaching result. It can also make the Ss reach a better understanding of the text .
  Part Two : Analysis of the teaching methods
  1 municative teaching method
  2 Task –based language teaching method
  3 Whole Language Teaching method
  In my opinion,the main instructional aims of learning English in the Middle School is to develop the students’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading, writing and their good sense of English. So in this lesson, I’ll mainly use “municative teaching method”, “Whole language teaching method” and “Task-based language teaching method”. That is to say, I’ll let the Ss get a better understanding of the ctures of the text.
  According to the modern social munication teaching theories, I adopt the Situational Language Teaching and TBLT method in my teaching.The former is a “scene — activity” teaching method .It establishes a real scene and the interaction between the teacher and the Ss . The latter offers the Ss an opportunity to plete the tasks. At the same time, I’ll mase of the modern electricity teaching equipments and all kinds of teaching means, it can develop the Ss’ creativity in learning English.
  Part Three : Analysis of the learning strategies
  My students are almost from the countryside. They are lack of geography knowledge and the cultural bacnd of those foreign countries.As junior students ,they have a certain ability to read . And the beautiful places are most attractive and easily arouse students’ learning emotion.As for the learning methods, they are poor in cooperative learning skills.Some students are not active in the class ,and some students don’t like English.Therefore, I’ll have Ss study in a relaxed atmosphere. In a word,I ’ll
  1.Teach the Ss how to be successful language learners.
  2.Let the Ss pass "Observation—Imitation—Practice " to study language.
  3.Teach the Ss how to master dialogues and how to municate with others.
  Part Four : Teaching procedures:
  I’ll finish section C in six steps:
  Step one  (5 minutes)
  1 Sing a song “ B What U Wanna B” ,then asdents ,what are they going to be when they grow up?
  Students like songs and music. They have strong personal preferences about what they lisic can help promote a relaxed, stress –free atmosphere in the classroom . It is a good idea to relate the song to actions , that is to say before you present a song or a rhyme always try to make them into a TPR activity. So I prepare to let the Ss sing the song “ B What U Wanna B”, then I can talt their dreams easily, and inducts the new class .
  2 Rreview the knowledge about Mars and space.
  I think it is important to form a better English learning surrounding for the students to talt Mars and at the same time it is necessary to provide situations to review learned knowledge .
  Step Two  Presentation  (20 minutes)
  This course is very important. I’ll mainly talt this step.
  1) I’ll show some pictures about solar system and Mars. It will help students understand the knowledge of 1a.
  Students’ attention span is very short. They are also naturally curious and active. But students do not often have a clear purpose for learning. They learn simply because they are happy and enjoy the activities . So we can design activities which are interesting and motivating, we can also encourage them to use the language in meaningful contents.
  2) Listen to 1a. Let the students find out new words and new phrases, then underline them . Pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation.
  The purpose of listen is to get pronunciation and intonation right , for enjoyment and encouraging participation and confidence .
  3) Listen to 1a again, let the students discuss some questions with their partners and then check the answers.
  Q1: What does Mars look like?
  Q2:How far is Mars from the sun?
  Q3: What’s the temperature on Mars?
  This activity is good for students . Because students have to listen carefully in order to record information ,and read the information to summarize the result and to report the information in class. They will have the opportunity to practice collation skills and oral presentation skills. 
  4) Find out the difficulties and important expressions.
  Step Three  Consolidation  (12 minutes)
  1.  Read 1a again and mare (T) or False(F).
  (The task helps students get a further understanding of 1a.)
  2. Let students fill in the blanks which is about Mars.
  3.Read 1a , then retell it according to the key words of 1a.
  To retell prove students’ speaking ability and master the important knowledge of 1a.As for students , it may be a little difficult for them to retell 1a , so we should give them some sentences,let them fill in the blanks. Make them enjoy success. Then we give them some keys words to help them retell, as a teacher ,we can help them retell when they are in trouble.We need to create a very relaxed and friendly language atmosphere . We need to encourage students and praise them for being brave.
  Step Four Practice  (5 minutes)
  1) Read 1a by themselves ,then finish 1b.
  To check the knowledge students have learned in 1a. If the Ss can finish this task well, they will benefit a lot in learning English.
  Step Five  Summary  (2 minutes)
  1)  Review key sentences and important knowledge for summary .
  With the tasdents can find out the important knowledge easily. And it will help them to master the key and difficult points.
  Step Six  Homework  (1 minute)
  1) Recite the words and difficult sentences after class.
  2) Go to a library to get an English book on science fiction, and enjoy reading. .
  I think homework is so important that the Ss should speak English as much as they can in class or after class. It’s necessary for the Ss to do some extensive exercises after class to consolidate the knowledge they learned.
  Ⅴ Blackboard design
  Please look at my blackboard design.I will write the key phrases on the left and the key words on the right. The important and difficult sentences are used to present in the middle of the blackboard.Good board writing is more than writing clearly on the blackboard. It also need good organization and good writing habits. A well organized board writing would help Ss to realize what is important and what is not .
  Ⅵ Part Six : Self-assessing
  Anyway, the teaching of this lesson aims to develop not only the Ss' language technical abilities, but also the various intelligence by gathering teaching methods. Purpose of my design:
  1、Make the students be free to talt social behaviors  .
  2、Understand the reading passage and can talk more about teamwork. 
  3、Improve the students’ reading and writing skills.
  As a teacher we play an important role in that development and we can only achieve it through our way of interacting with students .Treating students as human beings is easy to say but difficult to achieve . Humanistic education requires their own thoughts and needs. As a teacher we should use many short and simple activities instead of one long activity. We need to make the learning experience very enjoyable and pleasant, should not make tasks too difficult for them. In short, I think we should try our best to make the students be interested in our lessons.
