Jeff Keith has only one leg. With a plastic leg,Jeff could skate, ride a bicycle, swim and play soccer. 1 他也能跑。Jeff made a plan with his friends who had plastic legs, too. They decided to run across America. 2 That was difficult for them. But they wanted to challenge themselves.
Jeff Keith ran across the United States from the east to the west when he was twentytwo. He started running in Boston. 3 Seven months later, he stopped running in Los Angeles.

One day after 20 years of marriage, suddenly I wanted to take my old mother living alone out to dinner. So that night I called her. “Are you well, son?”she asked nervously.
1. My mother was the kind of woman who liked worrying. A late night call or a surprise invitation was regarded as bad news. “2. 我想和你共度时光。”I answered,“Just two of us.”
3. As I ran to her house, I found that mother seemed to be a little excited. With her favorite coat on, she got on the car, smiling as very happily as a child.
We went to a restaurant. Mother took my arm as if she were the First Lady. During the dinner, we talked so much. As we arrived at her house, she said, “I’ll go out with you again.”I agreed.
A few days later, my mother died suddenly. Some time later, 4. 我收到了一封来自餐厅的信。The letter said: “Dear son, I paid for two plates—one for you and the other for your wife. I wasn’t sure that I could be there. You will never know what that night meant for me. I love you.”
