一、教材分析
文本取自外语教学与研究出版社高中英语选修9 Module3。其主课文是 An Underground Army,文章以一个伦敦来中国的考古学生的视角介绍了秦始皇和他的陵墓及著名的兵马俑(包括外形);本模块还有另外一篇相关文章是 Secrets of the Terracotta Army, 文章客观地介绍了兵马俑的历史背景及意义还有外形。两篇文章的内容有交集。再有,两篇文章的结构也有交集,都是从介绍秦始皇到介绍他的陵墓再到介绍兵马俑外形这样一个文本思路来展开的。不同的是,文章Secrets of the Terracotta Army 还介绍了兵马俑的非凡意义。两篇同题材的文章相关生词多,尤其在文章Secrets of the Terracotta Army中更多,文章偏难。但如果指导学生有目的地阅读,基于学习目标的需要从中获取信息并进行加工处理,学生是可以达到教学目标所要求的程度来理解学习文本知识和语言知识的并加以运用。
二、学生分析
授课对象是高三普通班学生,学生们有一定的语言功底和阅读技巧。在英语课堂上,学习兵马俑的历史背景,外形和文化意义对学生来说有些枯燥无聊,学生对兵马俑的情况已经有所了解,单纯从求知的角度来激发学生的学习热情效果不会太好。但是,让学生用英语来介绍兵马俑的话,他们会受到词汇、句型的制约,甚至可能不知道如何说起,这会让学生产生一种学习的需要。所以,设置一个让学生产生这种需要的交际情境变得特别重要。所以根据上述学生情况分析,为了达成教学目标,一定认真设计让学生产生需要用英语来介绍的兵马俑的交际情境。
